Radio DaDa: Fatherhood (with a bit of fun)
In 2021, during the strange, quiet days of in between lockdowns, three friends and I launched a Dutch spoken podcast that started as a joke but quickly became something more: Radio DaDa, a space where dads in their 30s could talk openly about fatherhood.
From the thrill of becoming a dad to the reality of actually being one, we explored it all. Expectations, surprises, triumphs, and the wonderfully messy truth of raising babies turning into kids. It was meant for dads, but we found that partners, friends, and even non-parents tuned in to laugh, learn, and give (unasked for) feedback.
I was the anchor of the show, steering the conversation, asking the big (and small) questions, and making sure we stayed on track (well, most of the time). I loved every minute of it: the writing, the researching, the hosting, the reactions. And while we only recorded one season, the podcast still gets hundreds of listens every month, three years on.
Iād love to dive back into this world someday, creating spaces where stories are shared, voices are heard, and a (really) bad joke is never far away.
