Ted X

I had the privilege of opening the TEDx Amsterdam Impact Program at A’DAM&Co. with a spoken word poem I wrote, dedicated to the art of creativity. It was one of those rare moments where words, audience, and energy aligned. A reminder of how powerful storytelling can be.

Writing isn’t just a passion for me; it’s a daily habit, a non-negotiable part of life. Poetry has a way of showing up in my work, uninvited but always welcome. Sharing those words with the TEDx audience was both humbling and inspiring, their reactions a nudge to bring my poetry further into the world.

Performing spoken word isn’t new to me. I’ve paired my poetry with live music, opening piano concerts at Lofi alongside artists like Joep Beving, Matteo Myderwyk, and Lora Deniz. These moments, words intertwined with sound, always feel bigger than the sum of their parts.

The words keep coming, and I’m open to exploring where they’ll take me next. Whether it’s performing, collaborating, or crafting something entirely new, I’m excited about the possibilities.

Stay tuned.

To me,

impact is about creating spiritual contact.

And when I look at you, you, and you—

it doesn’t matter what you do,

as long as it’s your voice

that’s coming through.

When translating thoughts into words,

I think we all just want to be heard,

to be seen—

and what I mean

is creating something authentic and true,

something genuine,

something you.

Don’t be afraid

to cause a shiver

in somebody else’s body,

because I think everybody

is looking for the same thing:

to create,

to relate,

to sing

to our own tune.

From an early, misty morning in November

to a sunny afternoon in June.

Write down what you want to know.

Visit the places you yearn to go.

Because in the end,

it’s about riding that creative flow—

touching the force of nature within us all,

in you, you, and you.

My favorite color?

A dark shade of green.

That’s my impact.

For you, it might be blue.

My inspirations?

Bob Dylan, Rupert Spira,

and The Neverending Story.

It’s about being authentic,

close to your core—

not about fame or glory.

The X in TEDx marks the spot—

where like-minded spirits

touch down to evolve

into something new.

Yes, that’s you, you, and you.

Do what you want to do,

go where you’re going to.

John, Paul, George, and Ringo

made life a little better

through their creative spirit—

just to name a few.

In the end, love is all that matters,

and all you need.

We’re mere actors

in this endless, wonderful play.

Let’s enjoy the rhythm of our words,

listen to one another

with heart and mind aligned—

and drift into clouds of creativity,

up, up, and away.
